Hey! I’m the Back Bay Mermaid, also known as Candace Burns.
I'm driven by a deep passion for ocean conservation, collaborating with fellow creatives, and spreading joy to people of all ages.
My journey as a mermaid began in 2017. Born and raised in the coastal beauty of Virginia Beach, I wear many hats—Artist, Entertainer, and Graphic Designer. I've evolved from enchanting backyard birthday parties and crafting nautical treasures to dazzling festivals, captivating photoshoots, and launching my own online store. While I usually go solo as a mermaid, I'm part of an amazing team that includes talented photographers, mermaid handlers, and fellow mermaids, especially for larger projects and events.
My ultimate mission is to champion ocean preservation, nurture creativity and happiness, and inspire others to embrace their inner sea spirit.
